Meet the Team of One
I’m Kristy, your CVT VTNE Tutor! My experiences over the last six years in veterinary medicine have been quite the wild ride…and I can’t imagine it any other way!
Once upon a time, long long ago, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University. Years later, when I decided to go for it and become a veterinary technician, I selected Penn Foster as my distance learning program. After 3 tough years balancing school, working full time in the hospital, and just life in general, I graduated with my VT associates in 2021. Shortly thereafter, I passed the VTNE® my first go-around, became licensed, and never looked back. Since then, I have worked in small animal general practice, ER, and veterinary ophthalmology.
I am passionate about teaching students that are preparing for the VTNE®. My family always teases me, because I used to play “school” and pretend I was a teacher when I was a little girl. They tell me, “You always wanted to be a teacher!” And, they are right! It is incredibly rewarding to meet technicians from all around the country and to help each and every one of them prepare for this highly challenging exam.
Most would call me relatable, as I have been through the process of trying to finish school while working full-time in the hospital. It’s not easy. It’s overwhelming. And I’m here to tell you that I understand those emotions because I went through it, too!
Passing the VTNE® is one of the accomplishments I am most proud of in my life, and I can’t wait for every student to feel that sense of pride, too. Your licensure will open up so many doors in your career, and I am truly happy to be a part of that journey with you!
